What's in a Name?It had finally arrived.  The day they had waited for sincethey had formed Crystal Tokyo.  All the scouts and Endymoinwere gathered around Serenity's bed, Ami at the foot,delivering the queens first daughter, Chibi-Usa.  Amiinstructed Serenity to give a final push, and everyonebroke into smiles as a child's loud wail was heard, tearsbeginning to steal from Endymoin's eyes as his joy expanded.><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><Serenity smiled gently as she hugged her perfect babygirl, burying her nose in the small pink tufts of hair onher head.  She toyed with her fingers, trying to memorizethe feeling of her.  She had dreamed of the day she coulddo this since she had first learned Chibi-Usa was herdaughter. She'd been so impatient and on edge to hurry the day thatshe would be able to hold her new born daughter in her armsthat she had thrown herself into insuring a future she hadnever thought to want.  Serenity looked at her daughter with adoring eyes, thenturned to stare thoughtfully out the large window.  Eversince she had gotten pregnant and had stopped trying torush time to the day of her daughters birth she had beenwondering if, without the knowledge of Chibi-Usas birth andlife, she would have actually sobered up and taken theresponsibility of being queen.  She hadn't wanted to before the Dark Moon attack, backthen she had just wanted to be a normal teenager, in factshe would go so far as to say she had been terrified of allthat responsibility.  She hadn't wanted to be serious andladylike all the time, heck she had resented being theleader of the Senshi, of having her decisions affect eventhose lives. She had been denying her heritage as much as possible, andhad never tried to learn how to be a princess or evenreferred to herself as one after Beryl's defeat.  She hadforbidden her friends from referring to her as theirprincess and cringed every time her father called her that,begging him to find a new nickname for her.  The thought ofthe responsibilities royalty faced had always weighed onher chest like that albatross in that old sea poem herteacher had made her translate from English.  She used towake up from nightmares about a bad decision on her partruining the world, and had spent hours over a toilet beingsick because of the expectations she felt were aimed ather.   She'd wanted nothing more back then than to buryPrincess Serenity so deep even the other Senshi wouldforget about her.  However, ever since she had first found out about Chibi-Usa she had embraced the idea of being queen, burying allher reservations deep.  She had looked at the future andseen her reign as a necessary evil, for the birth of herdaughter, the one being that meant more to her then anyoneelse.  She'd altered her actions, her thoughts, heridentity, anything to help along the arrival of the prizeshe would be awarded for her troubles.  She had put allthoughts about how she viewed an ideal life out of hermind, everything other then Chibi-Usa, fearing having thatpart taken away if she did not follow the other lessdesirable parts of the future life she had glimpsed. With all the time that being pregnant had left her thoughshe had started wondering about "if"s.  If she hadn't knowntaking this course would end in Chibi-Usa, would she havetaken up the crown when it was offered to her?  Or wouldshe have continued to deny being royalty and kept on livingher relatively carefree life as plain old Usagi Chiba andSailor Moon.  She sighed, 'Oh well,' she thought.  It wasn't like shewould ever have a chance of finding out.  She rememberedsomething from last month, when she had been walking downone of the long deserted palace halls.  She had had thesudden urge to just run as fast as she could down it, justlike when she had when she had been a kid.  She had almostgiven in and done it, only the thought of what her subjectswould think to see their, oh so proper, queen do somethingso undignified had stopped her. Right as she had given upon the idea, Ami had come along and asked her if she wasall right, she said her eyes and cheeks seemed a bit brightand was worried that Serenity was coming down with the flu.'When did the spark in my eyes fade?' Serenity hadwondered, 'My face always used to look flushed, when did Igive up fun and mischief for a calm, unflustered face. Whendid I start to let the future rule the way I acted in thepresent?'  Just then the door to her room opened and Endymoin walkedin.  "Dear, it's time to go give the proclamation toofficially record Chibi-Usa's name."  He laughed, happywith life. "Not that it's really necessary, I mean her namewas decided upon when she first dropped on top of us."'But _we_ never really decided,' Serenity thought, 'Wejust accepted that her name would be Usagi, just like Iaccepted I was going to be queen, no thought at all.'  A frown crossed her face as the court announcer said, "Andnow for Her Royal Highness, Queen Serenity the First ofCrystal Tokyo, to read the first Princess of CrystalTokyo's name, so that it can be recorded for all of time."He stepped away from the microphone and Serenity stepped up."I, Serenity, the first Queen of Crystal Tokyo here bybestow onto my first child, heiress of all my kingdom, thename of-".><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><"Well I hope you're happy." Setsuna said, shaking her headat the scene in front of her."I don't see why you automatically get him, he looks justlike my old boyfriend, and I want him!" Makoto yelled atMinako, splashing her with water from the natural pool theywere swimming in."Exactly, _you've_ already had a chance, let someone elseget a try!" Minako yelled back, slamming the beach ballthey had been playing volleyball with into Makotos' face.They continued to bicker good naturedly as the game wenton.  Everyone who was swimming laughed slightly inexasperation at their antics.Usagi, sitting on a log beside Setsuna near the pool,smiled.  She looked around at the huge house they allshared in the woods, it was about two hours from thenearest village and set on a forested mountain that let yousee for miles when up in the trees.  It was set next to themost beautiful waterfall and spring imaginable.  "Yes as amatter of fact I am," she said with a happy laugh.  Shestill wasn't sure what mischievous imp had made her say"Achika" rather than "Usagi" when she had been officiallynaming her daughter but she was glad she had, despite therepercussions.  It had been five years since the world had been almostcompletely destroyed during the Dark Moon attack.  Theactual fight had been much shorter, and more vicious, thanit was supposed to have been according to what they learnedfrom Chibi-Usa.  However once the Wise Man and hisfollowers had been destroyed a bright flash had spread overthe whole world. When it faded and the people who had diedwere brought back to life with the ginzuishou, it had beendiscovered that no one remembered anything about CrystalTokyo, the Royal Members of the Solar System, or theSenshi.  Serenity and everyone else had been able to goback to being your average, everyday, over a thousand yearsold aliens.Setsuna smiled ironically at the carefree smile onUsagi's' face, it really was amazing how something assimple as a name could alter reality in such a drastic way.She guessed in reality the saying, "What's in a name, arose by any other would still smell as sweet," reallywasn't true. Quite a lot was in a name.Authors Notes:  Just thought I'd explain where this storycame from.  Me and my brother were talking one day abouttime travel and I brought up the point that if my daughterfrom the past came back and _I_ knew her name, I'd changeit just cause I could, wouldn't you?  Okay, I usually don'twrite short fics, but what can I say, I was inspired.
